Mosaic's first club season

This is Mosaic's only planned competitive program.

Our goal is to be a club that makes competitive athletes and support them through their volleyball career.

During the season our teams are taught to have this mindset:

  • We strive in a competitive environment and perform our best, no matter the score.

  • We are examples of sportsmanship and grace.

  • We make mistakes, and improve because of them.

  • We define perseverance.

We want to give more athletes the chance to participate in club volleyball. Every year there's plenty of athletes that don't make a club, with tryouts for 5 different teams we hope to give 60 more athletes a chance to play this year.

Who are we?

While this is Mosaic's first year operating, I have been involved with club volleyball for 11 years and am going into my 6th year of coaching.

I medaled at provincials with the first team I coached when I was 17, won multiple all-star awards throughout my years of playing, medaled at Nationals, was a graduating all star, ranked top 9 in the province as the highest ranking setter, and there's probably more that I've forgotten about.

As my passion for coaching grew, I decided to make it my priority to train athletes instead of playing college ball.

Within the last year I left the previous club I worked with, started Mosaic, changed my last name, and have begun my journey building the community I envision.

What does the name "Mosaic Volleyball Academy" mean?

A mosaic is a form of art that uses pieces of material to form a larger pattern or image.

This perfectly reflects what I'm trying to build. The "pieces" are each individual program that will come together to create the final image.

My goal is to have many programs that suit the needs of everyone, no matter you age or ability and create a community where everyone has a place.

Where did the dragon come from? I thought it looked cool.

I could say it melts glass to make the pieces or it has ties to my roots, but let's be real, it's just cool.

Details for the 2026/2027 season

Practices

Teams practice 3 times/week, 2 weekdays and 1 on Sunday.

Practice times range between 6-10pm on weekdays and 9am -10pm on Sundays with younger age classes starting in the earlier time slots.

Jayda Reid will be training all teams along with their designated coaches.

Practices will be held at Buffalo Run once the facility is complete. Before then, they will be held in schools and/or community centres. Schedule TBD.

Conditioning will also be held at Buffalo Run by a specialized trainer one practice day/week. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Tournaments

Teams will participate in 4-5 tournaments not including provincials and Nationals. There may be Tournaments outside of Winnipeg such as Brandon, Virden, or Selkirk. There's a possibility of Mosaic hosting a small tournament as well.

Registration for Nationals is done through a lottery system. Dates and locations for Nationals can be found on Volleyball Canada's site HERE

Merchandise

Each athlete receives the following:

  • 2 practice shirts

  • 2 jerseys

  • 1 hoodie

  •  1 pair of sweatpants

  • 1 backpack

There will be optional merch for athletes as well as parents that can be ordered.

Fees

Our club fees are all inclusive. Merch, coach travel, admin, court time, coaching, tournaments, and everything else is all included in one number payable in instalments throughout the season.

In the past parents would end up spending hundreds in additional fees that came as a surprise. With Mosaic there's no surprise fees or unexpected payments. The only additional costs parent need to consider is the Volleyball Manitoba athlete registration and their personal hotels and travel expenses. nothing extra goes to us. A conversation is had once we know how many tournaments will take place outside of Winnipeg to go over costs and options to help make trips more affordable.

13U: $3,150.

$1,000 deposit due at the first parent meeting in December and 5 instalments of $430 from January to May due on the 1st of each month.

14U-16U: $4,075.

$1,000 deposit due at the first parent meeting in December, 5 instalments of $615 from January to May due on the 1st of each month.

Other payment options can be discussed if needed.

My thoughts

I am very excited to announce that Mosaic will have club teams this upcoming 2026/27 season!

I have had tons of support from previous athletes I've coached and their guardians, coaches that chose to stick with me, and my amazing mother.

I can't wait to see where the season takes us. My promise is that you will come out of it better than when you started, both mentally and physically.

Expect to be pushed, expect it to be hard.

But also expect to be surrounded by people who support and value you, expect to have fun, expect funky socks, and expect the unexpected.
